Perlane® is an injectable dermal filler composed of hyaluronic acid gel. Perlane® treatments are non-surgical, simple, and are used to temporarily smooth wrinkles, facial lines and depressions, as well as facial scarring. Perlane® can also be used as a filler in lip augmentation.
What is Perlane® made of and how does it work?
Hyaluronic acid, the main ingredient in Perlane®, is a substance naturally found in the body that provides fullness and volume to the skin. Hyaluronic acid is an elastic chemical and can easily adjust and mold to the facial contours. With age however, your body’s natural stores become depleted, resulting in wrinkles and other deep lines. Perlane® helps counter-act this depletion by augmenting your body’s natural supply.
Who are the best candidates for treatment with Perlane®?
Perlane® is particularly effective in treating deep wrinkles and lines because it contains a greater ratio of hyaluronic acid than other similar dermal fillers such as Restylane. Perlane® is also highly effective in treating fine lines and other minor depressions, as well as reducing the unsightly appearance of acne scars.
What is treatment with Perlane® like?
Perlane® treatments are generally administered during a 30 to 45 minute appointment and because Perlane® consists of natural substances, post-treatment side effects are rare. If side effects do occur, such as swelling, itching, or redness, they are mild and resolve within a few weeks.
How long will my results last?
Perlane® is non-permanent and results last on average up to 6 to 10 months after the time of injection. Because this is a non-permanent procedure, patients will require repeat treatments to maintain their results. The recommended amount of time between treatments is influenced by the area of the face being treated, individual differences, as well as severity of wrinkles.
Perlane® is safer and more effective than collagen-based treatments, as it lasts longer and is naturally absorbed by the body.
